Vehicle Category
Vehicle categories denote the fuel type and engine size of the vehicle and are used to find the correct mileage rate to reimburse the claimant.
There are already categories set up on the system for Petrol, Diesel and LPG cars, with engine sizes to match those used in the HMRC recommended fuel rates. If you need to add additional categories to be in line with your own companies policies then this can be done via the Vehicle category admin screen.
To find this go to Administration > General > Vehicle categories.
To add a new vehicle category click on the Add a new category button. This will display a pop up where you can enter the new vehicle type details.
In the example shown in the screenshot, a new type of Diesel hybrid is being added. You must fill in any fields shown in yellow. Selecting the fuel type and entering the engine size range will allow the system to automatically match the vehicle to the correct category when the user sets it up, thus ensuring they will get the correct rate.
Once you have entered the vehicle details click save and the new category will be created.
You now need to add mileage rates for the new category. Instructions on adding mileage rates can be found on the mileage rates help page.
