Files & Receipts OCR
OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition and is the mechanical or electronic conversion of images of typed, handwritten or printed text into machine-encoded text. Typically from scanned documents, photo of a document or a photo of a receipt.
To begin using the OCR feature, starting on the Available Receipts screen first tap on a receipt you wish to use OCR on.
Tap on the Read with OCR button found underneath the receipt image.
The app will attempt to automatically fill in the receipt date, amount and vat amount.
OCR is an evolving piece of technology, sometimes OCR will fail to enter the correct information or will fail to bring back anything at all. In cases where this happens you can tap on the relevant field (receipt date, amount and vat) and you will be presented with a list of alternatives.
If you find that none of the alternatives are correct, you can select “None of these”, this will set the field blank, allowing you to manually enter the correct amount after you’ve applied the OCR changes.
Tap on the tick, found in the top right-hand corner.
You will then be sent back to the receipt view. Here you can fill in any information that OCR was unable to pick up and then click the tick to save.
